Dogs are often seen merely as commodities rather than living beings with emotions, especially by irresponsible breeders who prioritize profit.

These breeders frequently overwork dogs to produce litters and then abandon them once they’re no longer useful, leaving them to fend for themselves in harsh conditions.

A recent incident in Compton, California, highlights this cruelty, but it also shows the compassion of those working to help.

A recent incident in Compton, California...

Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, and her colleague Arturo responded to an urgent call about a dog that had been left on one of Compton’s busiest streets.

When Suzette arrived, she found a mother dog alone, her puppies missing, crouched in bushes on the roadside. It was clear she had been abandoned after serving her purpose as a breeder.

Suzette described this heartbreaking scene on Facebook, noting how the dog hid in the bushes, frightened and tense from every passing sound.

Determined to help, Suzette approached the traumatized dog with gentle words and a calm demeanor. Despite the chaos of passing cars and the dog’s visible injury, Suzette and Arturo kept a vigilant watch.

To safely capture the dog, Suzette set up a humane trap with food near her hiding place. Hunger overcame the dog’s fear, and she swiftly entered the trap, allowing herself to be rescued.

Reflecting on the rescue, Suzette shared, “She was so hungry she didn’t hesitate one bit. She literally walked straight into it.”

With safety assured, the mother dog was transported to a veterinary hospital for treatment of her injured leg and to receive much-needed care.

Suzette fondly described the dog as a “beautiful lab” and expressed optimism about her future: “We think her leg is broken but her spirit will be healed in no time.”

Once she has fully recovered, this resilient dog will be ready for adoption. The goal is to find her a loving home where she will always be cherished and cared for.
