Countless dog owners fill their camera rolls with pictures and videos of their pets, eager to share the joy their furry companions bring into their lives. Among these proud pet parents is Leah Alisse from Temecula, California, whose TikTok page is adorned with adorable clips of her Rottweiler pup, Gunther. Recently, one of Gunther’s videos captured hearts across the globe.
Alisse first encountered Gunther when he was just a 10-week-old puppy. He was the last of his litter, left unadopted due to a noticeable limp. In many such cases, an unadopted pup might face euthanasia, but Alisse couldn’t bear the thought for this lovable canine. She welcomed Gunther into her home, determined to give him the best life possible.

Despite knowing she made the right choice, Alisse was initially concerned. Every time Gunther attempted to stand, his legs wobbled uncontrollably. “It was really shocking and heartbreaking,” Alisse shared in an interview. “His leg lacked stability at the ankle, bending on itself. An X-ray revealed no breaks, leaving us without answers.”
Determined to help her new family member, Alisse dived into research. A veterinarian suggested that Gunther’s limp could be due to nerve damage from a previous injury. Drawing inspiration from her father-in-law, who was undergoing therapy for a foot drop, Alisse decided to try similar exercises with Gunther

She began massaging and stretching Gunther’s leg, and the results were remarkable. In just a few days, his walk showed significant improvement. “Within days, he was stable and running around with our other dogs,” Alisse recounted. “His leg occasionally gave out, but the progress was astonishing. After two weeks, it rarely happened.”
Now, two years later, Gunther is a picture of health and happiness. He relishes romping around fields and socializing with everyone he meets. Though his ankle remains slightly lax, he moves with the ease of a typical pup. “We feel incredibly lucky to have Gunther,” Alisse exclaimed. “He’s been the sweetest and most well-behaved dog since we took him home. He loves playing fetch and always carries his ball around.”
Gunther’s story is a testament to love, perseverance, and the wonders of a nurturing home.
