Newly revealed FBI documents contain details and photographs of injuries that actress Angelina Jolie reportedly sustained during an alleged 2016 altercation with her then-husband, Brad Pitt, aboard a private jet.
The images show bruising on Jolie’s elbow and hand, injuries she claims occurred when Pitt was in a chokehold and threw his body back, causing her to hit nearby chairs.
According to the FBI report, which various news outlets obtained, Jolie attempted to restrain Pitt because she believed he was going to attack one of their children. Jolie claims that the incident left her with a “rug-burn type wound” on her hand, among other injuries.
These documents came to light after Jolie, named the anonymous “Jane Doe” in a lawsuit against the FBI, requested the release of information related to the investigation.
This suit followed an FBI investigation into the incident, concluding with no charges against Pitt. The altercation reportedly occurred on a private flight in 2016, with Jolie alleging that Pitt’s behavior throughout the flight was aggressive and erratic.
The actress stated that Pitt’s actions made her feel “like a hostage” onboard and that he verbally and physically assaulted the children. The report also mentioned that Jolie had been shell-shocked during the flight, feeling frozen and scared.
Following the incident, Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, ending their nearly five-year marriage. They are currently embroiled in a complex custody battle over their six children.
Pitt, however, has denied the allegations and was cleared by the FBI and the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services of any physical abuse charges.
The custody dispute has seen numerous twists, including removing a judge due to concerns over his impartiality. Besides their custody battle, Pitt and Jolie also have a legal dispute over their jointly owned French vineyard, Chateau Miraval.
Pitt has accused Jolie of selling her stake to a Russian oligarch with the intent to damage him, while sources close to Jolie refute those claims, stating that she decided to sell her stake after she and her children could no longer return to the property.
