According to recent reports, Angelina Jolie has auctioned off a rare painting by Winston Churchill for a stunning $11.5 million.
The iconic piece, titled “Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque,” was given to Jolie by her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, during their marriage.

The auction, which took place at Christie’s in London, surpassed expectations, with the painting becoming the most expensive Churchill work ever sold.
The painting, created in 1943 by Churchill for Franklin D. Roosevelt, holds significant historical importance.

It was painted in Marrakech after the Casablanca Conference, where Churchill and Roosevelt discussed World War II strategies.
The piece was expected to fetch around $3 million, but its final price exceeded all expectations, reaching over $11.5 million.
A source told Page Six that the painting was part of the Jolie Family Collection, which Brad Pitt purchased from an antique dealer in New Orleans in 2011.

Pitt was reportedly inspired by his role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” and gifted the painting to Jolie.
The former power couple had previously visited the Churchill War Rooms in the U.K. on a private tour. Since their 2016 divorce, Angelina and Brad have been engaged in a bitter legal battle.
Although their divorce was finalized in April 2019, unresolved issues continue to cause tension between them.

In a recent interview with British Vogue, Jolie hinted at the difficulties following their split, emphasizing that she’s been focusing on healing her family.
Despite these challenges, Jolie’s successful auction sale indicates her resilience and ability to move forward.
The proceeds from the sale could support her philanthropic endeavors, as she’s known for her humanitarian work.
