A heart-wrenching rescue occurred after a distress call led us to an abandoned area where several dogs lay in grievous conditions.
The situation was dire, with the animals severely malnourished and dehydrated, merely skin and bones, some already succumbing to the lack of care.
Amidst the tragic scene, one particular dog, whom we’ve named Bono, stood out. He was found amidst deceased animals, so weakened that he could barely stand.
To survive, these dogs were forced to desperate measures, highlighting the urgency of their situation. Immediate veterinary intervention is crucial to increase their chances of survival.

Bono’s condition was critical, suffering from a severe infection and anemia. Despite this, there was a glimmer of hope as we noticed slight improvements in his health after intensive care.
Initially, he was too weak and disinterested to eat, necessitating force-feeding, but his journey to recovery began as he started eating voluntarily.
Unfortunately, Bono’s struggles were far from over. His infected tail, infested with parasites, required immediate attention.

Ongoing medical care from gastroenterologists, hematologists, and surgeons ensured he was under constant supervision, although he remains hospitalized with no clear discharge date yet.
Despite the hurdles, Bono gradually became more alert and responsive, his vision improved, and he gained some weight, going from 19.7 kg to 21.6 kg.
This progress is heartening and if it continues, we hope that Bono will soon stand and walk on his own.

As his health stabilizes, discussions have begun about the necessary amputation of his remaining injured tail to prevent further complications. While Bono’s bloodwork still shows severe anemia, the cessation of his diarrhea is a small yet significant relief.
Though neglected for an extended period, Bono’s spirit shows signs of resilience and recovery. We invite you to follow his journey with us, hopeful that this remarkable dog’s story will inspire and move many.
