When the organization Howl of a Dog encountered an elderly canine near a railroad station, they noticed the dog was in poor condition, limping, and with an injured left eye.
Realizing that an attempt to rescue him at that moment could be hazardous—he might run off and get hit by a train—they decided to follow him, hoping to guide the dog to a safer place.

“It was like a marathon because he would dart away every time we got close,” they explained. “Eventually, though, he understood we meant no harm, or maybe the scent of some tasty food won him over,” they added.
The team quickly took the dog to a veterinarian and were surprised to discover he had a microchip linking him to an owner. However, their relief turned to dismay upon contacting the owner.
“We anticipated a happy reunion between the dog and his owner,” said a representative from Howl of a Dog. “Yet, when we called, the owner expressed no interest in taking the dog back, asking us to keep him instead.”
It appears that the dog, named Bobi, had wandered far from home, ending up about 10 kilometers (approximately 6 miles) from where he lived. The circumstances of his departure remain unknown, but his rescuers focus on the positive outcome.
Bobi is a 9-year-old dog weighing around 18 kilograms (about 39 pounds). His rescuers describe him as “very sweet, loving, and obedient, with a lively and curious nature, almost as if he’s experiencing a youthful phase he missed out on.”
Now, fully vaccinated and neutered, Bobi is on the lookout for a forever home where he can be happy and loved in his senior years.
