In a heartwarming tale of rescue and redemption, a dog left abandoned in an industrial area has found safety with help from local firefighters.
Initially, the dog sought warmth by spending nights on a burnt couch and stayed hidden under vehicles during daylight. Rudy, a veteran firefighter, discovered the dirt-covered, homeless dog and felt compelled to help.

Determined to find assistance, he contacted Hope For Paws Rescue for support.
Hope For Paws quickly responded to Rudy’s call. When they arrived, they found the dog caked in soot, understandably frightened, and unwilling to approach.
Despite their efforts to make contact, the dog instinctively retreated to the charred sofa, which had become her makeshift comfort zone.

With patience and the irresistible lure of a cheeseburger, rescuers slowly gained her trust. As the layers of grime were washed away, her brilliant white fur emerged, signifying the start of a new, brighter chapter in her life.
Now lovingly named Waka, the dog is in foster care with Wags and Walks and is looking forward to a future filled with care and warmth. Free from her past hardships, Waka is ready to find a permanent, loving home.

Her days of seeking solace on a burnt couch are firmly behind her. For those interested in giving Waka a forever home, applications are now open.
