The piercing cries in the dead of night would unsettle anyone. For Kaitlyn, a committed rescuer affiliated with Adams County Pet Rescue in Othello, Washington, it was a call to action.
Upon hearing the distressing sounds, Kaitlyn immediately sprang into action. It was clear the cries weren’t human, but their source was initially elusive until she discovered them coming from beneath her car.
It was nearly 11 p.m. when Kaitlyn returned home and let her dogs out for a bathroom break. That’s when the desperate cries erupted from under her vehicle.

Kaitlyn bent down to take a closer look and was startled by what she found—two frightened eyes looking back at her from the darkness.
A terrified puppy, hidden under her car, was trembling with fear.
Rescuing the little canine, however, was anything but straightforward.
What started as a seemingly simple rescue quickly turned into a high-stakes chase. As Kaitlyn reached for the puppy, it scurried away.
“The puppy darted out from under the car with Kaitlyn close behind. Her quick thinking was crucial to stop it from vanishing into the night,” the rescue organization reported.

Fortunately, the puppy didn’t wander into the open fields. Instead, it stayed within the boundaries of Kaitlyn’s yard, seemingly aware that it was safer there.
Barefoot and unwavering after losing her sandals, Kaitlyn called for reinforcements. With the help of a few kind neighbors, they carefully managed to corner the nervous pup.
Assistance soon arrived from her team at the rescue.
“When Kaitlyn calls late at night, I know it’s going to be something engaging. When she sounds breathless, I know it’s truly exciting, and this was no exception,” the rescue group shared on Facebook.
With the puppy safely secured, she was taken to the shelter for some much-needed rest and recuperation.
Initially shy and wary, the puppy, later named Primavera, slowly started to regain her trust in humans.
Thanks to the kindness of the Adams County Pet Rescue team, Primavera found a foster home where her true self began to emerge.

Guided by her foster mom, Tammy, Primavera learned to feel secure and loved.
One of Primavera’s most joyous discoveries was her new buggy rides around the neighborhood.
Tammy’s love and patience transformed Primavera into a lively and affectionate puppy. No longer introverted, she began to thrive on interaction and attention.
“She enjoys chasing balls, playing with chew toys, and carrying her plush toys everywhere. She’s very social now and loves being around people,” the rescue team noted on Facebook.
As Primavera continues to adjust, she is steadily evolving into the perfect companion for a family.
Soon, she will find her forever home, a place where she will be cherished and adored.
After what she has been through, she deserves nothing but happiness.
