Double H Canine Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, is known for training pets to become skilled service dogs. Yet, one trainee, Ryker, a Belgian Malinois with a playful spirit, struggled to meet the school’s expectations.

Despite the academy’s best efforts to teach Ryker essential service dog skills, he was more interested in having fun than following instructions.

While other dogs diligently followed their trainers, Ryker’s antics turned training sessions into a comedy show.

Ryker’s fascination with a walking crutch distracted him from learning. Instead of walking beside his trainer, who uses a wheelchair, Ryker found the wheelchair irresistible.

He played with the wheels, treating them like toys, and even dragged the wheelchair around with enthusiasm, much to his trainer’s amusement.

The Malinois’ distractions didn’t stop there. When Ryker was attached to a leash and instructed to guide his trainer, he found the refrigerator more intriguing.

He tried to move it around as if helping with chores, but fetching a water bottle or playing with a tennis ball on the walker proved too challenging.

Ryker also habitually mopped the floor at breakneck speed and showed more interest in his trainer’s cap than in performing his tasks.

His favorite spot was atop the cabinets, where he could enjoy a bird’s-eye view of everything.

Though Ryker may not have succeeded in becoming a service dog, his goofy antics and boundless energy brought joy to everyone around him, proving that sometimes a dog’s personality is just as valuable as any training.
